BioTrain is a sector partnership of biotechnology companies, government, and nonprofits led by Montgomery College and working together to shape a technical workforce that is ready for today and tomorrow.
This program is designed to provide a boost to both employees (existing and potential) and employers. Training is free of cost. The short lectures, workshops and hands-on training are all taught by industry experts. See below for a listing of many of the workshops and lectures.

Lab Essentials: NGS Technicians, presented by MilliporeSigma Industry Experts
A 46 hour workshop, (12 evenings) held in our state of the art BioScience Center Building, on the Germantown Campus.
Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology enables rapid and accurate sequencing of DNA or RNA, and has revolutionized the field of genomics. This course provides an overview of the basic principles, methods, and applications of NGS technology. The course will teach theory, NGS workflow steps, important cGMP rules and regulations, basic lab essentials hands-on in performing the Next Generation Sequencing process. The course will also elaborate on key differences compared to Sanger sequencing and other technologies. A section of the course will also provide information on cGMP rules and regulation and students will be able to learn Good Manufacturing and Laboratory Practices, Good Documentation Practices, Data Integrity and ALCOA+ Principles.

A 9-hour workshop, (four evenings) held in our state of art BioScience Education Building on the Germantown Campus.
The focus of this course is to learn the purposes, organization, business, activity,
challenges/risks, job opportunities, best practices, and how to strive for success
as a professional in the areas of development/manufacturing of consumer products,
contract research, contract manufacturing, biotech, and pharmaceutical organizations
overseen by regulatory agencies in the United States. This course is conducted in
an interactive way to ensure students can directly participate in the discussion and
leave with a clear understanding about those industries and the related critical regulations
that need to be followed and consistently practiced.
Participants will be able to learn about approach and efficient ways to network, seek
jobs, and explore best practices to serve the regulatory agency sectors.
