Featured Instructor Ben Kershner, Data Analytice Practitioner (ITI469):

Instructor Ben Kershner

Ben Kershner is a data scientist, educator, and AI technology leader with extensive experience designing and deploying practical artificial intelligence and data analytics solutions for complex real-world challenges. He currently serves as a Senior AI/ML Engineer at Torch.AI, where he develops production-grade AI systems supporting U.S. defense and intelligence missions. His work focuses on large language models (LLMs), natural language processing, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic AI, and scalable data platforms that transform complex information into actionable insights.

Throughout his career, he has specialized in building predictive models, designing data pipelines, analyzing structured and unstructured data, developing intuitive visualizations, and translating complex technical concepts into clear, decision-ready recommendations.

At Montgomery College, Ben teaches the Data Analytics Practitioner (ITI469) course, where he brings real-world industry experience into the classroom. He is passionate about helping students build practical skills in data analytics and artificial intelligence while preparing them to solve modern business and technology challenges.

Ben holds a Master of Science in Business Analytics from the University of Virginia and dual bachelor's degrees in Economics and Political Science from George Washington University, with minors in Statistics and History.

  • ITI437 – MS Excel Level 3
  • ITI500 – QuickBooks Online

  • A PC or Laptop running Windows 11 or MacOS
  • A broadband Internet connection
  • PC speakers, microphone, and webcam
  • Chromebooks are not sufficient for ITI courses

If you have never used it or forgotten your login information you will find instructions below on how to access MyMC.

How to access your Official Montgomery College Email Account  

  •  All College web pages have a button in the upper right corner designated “Access MyMC”. Click on that button and follow the prompts
  • A sign-in screen will open asking for your MyMC ID and Password in order to sign in. If you are having difficulty signing into MyMC , there are helpful links on the sign-in page for:
