As the Associate Vice President for K–12 Pathways and Community Education, Akima H. Rogers provides leadership, operational oversight, and strategic vision for Montgomery College’s K–12 academic partnerships, youth programming, and pathway initiatives designed to connect students to college and future opportunities.

Reporting to the Associate Senior Vice President for Academic Partnerships and Programs, Mr. Rogers leads efforts that strengthen the continuum from early exposure to college through high school, postsecondary enrollment, credential attainment, transfer, and workforce preparation. He works collaboratively across Academic Affairs, Advancement and Community Engagement, Student Affairs, Montgomery County Public Schools, and community partners to develop integrated pathways that expand access to Montgomery College and create meaningful opportunities for students to engage with the College throughout their K–12 experience.

Promoting Academic Affairs’ values of excellence, innovation, and collaboration, Mr. Rogers advances cross-functional initiatives that align K–12 partnerships with the College’s strategic priorities and Academic Master Plan. His portfolio includes Dual Enrollment, (Early College, Middle College, P-TECH, Virtual Middle College and Jumpstart to College), Youth Programs and Summer Camps, and other initiatives that connect secondary education with college-level learning and postsecondary pathways. He also provides leadership for emerging K–8 strategies designed to create structured, year-round experiences that introduce younger students to Montgomery College, academic disciplines, and future educational possibilities.

Mr. Rogers directs high-impact work that strengthens partnerships between Montgomery College and Montgomery County Public Schools, expands access to college-level opportunities, and creates clear pathways into certificates, degrees, transfer, and careers. Through data-informed planning, program development, and collaboration with faculty, administrators, schools, and community partners, he works to ensure that students and families can navigate a coordinated continuum of opportunities from their earliest interactions with Montgomery College through postsecondary success.

Mr. Rogers brings extensive experience in academic partnerships, K–12 pathway development and student affairs to the role. Prior to becoming Associate Vice President, he served as Director of Academic Initiatives at Montgomery College, where he provided leadership for the College’s dual enrollment portfolio and numerous academic partnership initiatives. He has also served as College Institute manager and Education Specialist at MC and was previously the Associate Dean of Students at the Catholic University of America and Assistant Director of Judicial Affairs at Boston College. His work has focused on expanding access, strengthening institutional and school-system partnerships, developing innovative college pathways, and creating opportunities that support students in successfully transitioning from secondary education to college and beyond.
