Current/Returning DSS Student Information
Welcome back, returning students! DSS is expanding your self-service options through Accommodate, our online DSS system. Please see the below options that are available to you.
Accommodations need to be renewed each semester. Here's how!
Complete your Semester Request new window at least 2 weeks before the start of every semester (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer) to ensure timely services. Requests received less than 2 weeks before the start of the semester or after the semester has started will be processed in the order they are received.
-
Captioned video instructions new window for the Semester Request process.
-
Step-by-step written instructions (PDF,
) for the Semester Request process. -
It is important that you only create one semester request at a time. For example: if you are taking courses in Winter and Spring please create a Winter request and wait until you have received your Winter letter before creating your Spring request.
-
If you are unable to complete the online Semester Request, please email dss@montgomerycollege.edu or call us at 240-567-5058 during our regular business hours.
-
If you are a returning student who has not received an Accommodation Letter since Fall of 2022, you might not be able to complete this process. Please contact DSS if this is the case.
-
It is important to keep in touch with your DSS counselor. Here are ways to connect with them.
Current students who have already established accommodations with our office can request an appointment online new window. Follow our step-by-step written instructions (PDF,
) , or watch the video directions (coming soon!). Students may also contact their DSS
counselor directly via email to schedule an appointment. If you have general questions
or do not know who your DSS counselor is, email dss@montgomerycollege.edu
DSS counselors meet with students by appointment only. Appointments can be conducted in one or more of these ways:
-
Zoom appointments: This options allows the DSS counselor to visually and verbally share information during your appointment. You will receive an email with your counselor's Zoom link prior to your appointment. It is important for this type of appointment that you be in an area where you have a reliable, stable internet connection and a minimal amount of background noise or activity. This is a great option if you would prefer a visual experience.
-
Phone appointments: On the day of your appointment, your assigned DSS counselor will contact you at the phone number you provided during the appointment scheduling process.
-
In-person appointments: Are available at each campus. If you plan to bring a family member, aide, or other person(s) to your appointment, please let us know when scheduling the appointment so that we can ensure the meeting is held in a large enough space. If you feel unwell on the day of the appointment, please do not come to our office - please contact us to reschedule the appointment or switch the appointment to Zoom.
Remember to monitor your montgomerycollege.edu email in case we need to contact you before your appointment.
Please contact the main DSS office if you are running late to an appointment. If you realize you will not be able to attend your appointment, please call our office so that we can help you reschedule.
If you need an accommodation during your appointment with us (i.e., sign language interpreter, documents in braille or large print, etc.) please let us know when you schedule your appointment.
